Is Jason neurodivergent? The fan theory explained

Short answer: Some fans think Jason Duval is neurodivergent, possibly autistic. The idea grew after Rockstar’s narrative head said in a Love Magazine interview that Jason is “wired differently from other people”. Rockstar has not said Jason is autistic.

Where the theory comes from

After the gameplay reveal, some players, including autistic fans, said they related to how Jason acts: he seems more comfortable with clear instructions, and Lucia does much of the talking.

Then Rupert Humphries, Rockstar’s senior VP of narrative, told Love Magazine that Jason turns to crime because of his “material circumstances”, and described him as being “wired differently from other people”. Many fans read that as a hint.

Is this real? Unconfirmed, only a claim so far

Who said it: Fans, after a Love Magazine interview with Rockstar’s Rupert Humphries, as reported by TheGamer. Sources: TheGamer, IMDb News. Our view: a fan reading of one quote. In context the line may just describe Jason’s choices and personality, not a diagnosis. Checked: 30 Oct 2026.
