Can Jason and Lucia break up? The GTA 6 relationship system

Short answer: Their romance is a real variable you control. Jason and Lucia start out interested in each other, and the relationship only grows if you spend time together: shopping, working out, exploring and robbing places as a pair. Deepening it reveals more of their pasts. Rockstar says a stronger romance gives no gameplay bonuses, and the story finishes either way. Can they break up? Partly: Rob Nelson told a previewer the romance can end, but the story keeps them together as partners in crime for most of the game.

How the relationship grows

Do things together: shop, go to the gym, explore, do jobs.
Use the “Hold hands” and other prompts when they’re side by side (from the Extended Look).
Spending time together unlocks more about their pasts. Lucia’s ankle monitor is reported to be central to how they first meet.
