How do heists work in GTA 6? From gas stations to bank vaults

Short answer: GTA 6 has a ladder of robberies. At the bottom you can rob almost any store, gas station or diner in free roam. Above that are jewelry stores and armored cars, and at the top story bank and vault heists. Missions usually offer several approaches and escape routes. The job isn’t done until you escape and sell the loot to a fence, and the police remember your face, clothes and car.

How a robbery plays

Prepare: hide your gun behind your back, put on a mask or face wrap, park a getaway car.
Control the room: aim at the clerk or guard and shout them down so they can’t hit the panic button. Aim at more than one person to keep a standoff under control while your partner works.
Grab the loot: blowing a safe is fast but destroys part of the cash; finding the combination takes longer and pays far more.
Escape: break the police description (outfit, car, face). Torching the getaway car and switching vehicles is shown in the Extended Look.
Cash out: sell stolen goods through a fence.

Why heists feel different from GTA 5

No big three set heists only: small robberies are everywhere in the open world.
Clean jobs raise your Criminal Profile; bloodbaths lower it.
Some story chapters need you to raise money first, so robberies matter for progress.
