Lucia vs Ellie: face animation debate

What happened

GameGPU reported on 1 Nov 2026 that a lively debate has started online after players put Lucia’s facial expressions from GTA 6 next to Ellie’s dramatic scene in Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II. The talk focused on skin rendering, eye movement and how much emotion each face shows.

The two sides

• Team Lucia: players point to better lighting, skin shaders and eye detail in the GTA 6 footage, and credit current consoles and Rockstar’s huge budget.
• Team Ellie: others say The Last of Us Part II, a linear game, still shows subtler emotion and facial muscle detail, even on PS4.
• The fair point: linear games can put all their power into hand-polished scenes, while GTA 6 runs a full open world with physics and AI at the same time.
