What Rockstar said

In a big new feature in Edge magazine, Rockstar revealed that Vice City and the rest of Leonida are almost as big as GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 combined. PC Gamer and GamesRadar+ shared the details on October 28.

Is this real? Yes, confirmed by an official source

Who said it: Rockstar co-studio head Aaron Garbut, speaking to Edge magazine. Sources: Edge, PC Gamer, GamesRadar+. Our view: The map comparison and quotes come from Rockstar in an official Edge interview. Checked: 28 Oct 2026.

Far more buildings you can enter

Rockstar co-studio head Aaron Garbut told Edge that GTA 6 has “an order of magnitude more interiors” than its earlier games. That means many times more shops, homes and buildings you can walk into.

He also said every back alley is densely detailed, and that “you can go anywhere” and find a place someone has thought about.

No more empty countryside

Fans felt GTA 5’s northern areas, like the Senora Desert, were too empty. According to the Edge feature, that feedback shaped Leonida’s outer areas, so even the quieter regions should have more to do. See our GTA 6 map guide and Vice City guide.

More details coming

The full Edge feature is out on October 29, with more GTA 6 information and art expected. GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026. Check the exact release time and the Edge 430 cover story.
