GTA 6 vs RDR2: which is bigger?

Short answer: GTA 6 is set in modern-day Leonida (Vice City and beyond) with two playable leads, Jason and Lucia, while Red Dead Redemption 2 follows Arthur Morgan in the American frontier of 1899. Rockstar says Leonida is close to the size of GTA 4, GTA 5 and RDR2 combined, and many RDR2 systems, like honor and detailed NPC reactions, return in a new form in GTA 6.

What GTA 6 takes from RDR2

Morality: RDR2’s honor becomes GTA 6’s Criminal Profile, which can change the story.
NPCs: greet and provoke prompts like RDR2, plus 600,000 animations.
Slower pace: a longer day-night cycle, fuel and engine wear.
Weapons: stored in your car boot, like RDR2’s horse.

Graphics

RDR2 is still one of the best-looking games of its generation. GTA 6 is built only for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with denser crowds, dynamic weather and more detailed cities. Rockstar has not confirmed a 60fps mode, see PS5 Pro features.

Which should you play?

Want a slow, emotional western: RDR2. Want modern crime, cities and two leads: GTA 6. Many fans are replaying RDR2 now, but note it leaves PS Plus on 17 November, see this story.
