What happened

Sony Japan revealed an all-black PS5 Digital Edition, with a matching black disc drive and DualSense controller sold separately. It is cheaper than other PS5 models in Japan and launches on GTA 6 release day.

The catch is that it is region-locked. It only works with a PlayStation account set to Japan as the country and Japanese as the language, so players elsewhere cannot use it.

What it means for you

If you live outside Japan, there is nothing to buy yet, and Sony has not announced a Western version. If you need a console for GTA 6, compare normal PS5 and Xbox prices where you live, and check the GTA 6 price in Japan or in your country.
