Does GTA 6 Support Keyboard and Mouse on PS5 and Xbox?

Short answer: Not announced. Rockstar has listed GTA 6’s DualSense features on PS5 (haptics, adaptive triggers, the controller speaker) but has said nothing about keyboard and mouse on PS5 or Xbox. GTA 5 never added native keyboard and mouse on consoles, so plan on using a controller. A PC version with full keyboard and mouse is expected later, but it has no date.

Update (30 Oct 2026): sprinting no longer needs button mashing

GameRant reports that in GTA 6 you sprint by clicking the left stick, instead of tapping X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) over and over like in GTA 5.
That keeps your right thumb on the camera while running, which helps in chases and fights.
Rockstar has not released the full controller layout yet, so it is not known if the old tap-to-sprint option stays as an alternative.

What about adapters?

Some players use adapters that make a keyboard and mouse look like a controller. They are not supported by Rockstar or Sony. GTA 6 launches single-player only, but if an online mode arrives later, these devices could break its rules. We don’t recommend them.

When can I play with a mouse?

On PC. Analyst Michael Pachter guesses about 6 or 7 months after launch, around mid-2027, but Rockstar hasn’t announced it. GTA 6 PC status.
