Is GTA 6 Eligible for The Game Awards 2026?
Short answer: Yes. The Game Awards 2026 rules say a game must be on sale by Friday 20 November 2026 at 9pm PT, and GTA 6 launches on 19 November, one day earlier. Being eligible does not mean it will be nominated: jurors will have very little time to play it before votes are due. The show is on 10 December 2026.

Is this real? Yes, confirmed by an official source
Who said it: The Game Awards FAQ (cutoff) and Rockstar (release date). Sources: 2 official, 3 outlets. Our view: Eligible is confirmed; a nomination is not. Checked: 29 Oct 2026.
Will GTA 6 be nominated for Game of the Year?
Nobody knows yet. Nominations are picked by a jury of media outlets, and voting usually happens in mid-November. GTA 6 reviews are expected on 18 November, so jurors would have only days with the game. GTA BOOM reported that Rockstar is not flying jurors out for early play sessions. Unconfirmed
The nominee list has not been announced yet. The Players’ Voice award works differently: fans vote, and GTA 6 easily makes its 30 November cutoff.
